Please use English while posting on forums, otherwise your posts will be deleted. Speaking about subject of this thread - it's too cubersome to support several versions, especially since the game is still in beta. Also none of us knows Portuguese so it makes things even more complicated. However this does not mean there will be no such localization. Some day it will along with other european languages like German, French, Spanish, etc.

ok
Sorry for posts in Portuguese, I was wondering why the server was offline. Portuguese language regarding the possibility could not come to do the translation?

I think what Laser Squad Nemesis (another online turn-based game) did was allow the players to create the language files. You can either manage the file yourself and include it in the install or let the players manage it and for instance attach the latest file to a post in the forums for others to download.
The biggest problem with this would be the printf style formatted strings which may crash the program if someone adds too many %s, %d, etc. If it's player-managed you could add a "use at your own risk" warning, if you're including it in the install then you can test it before release.

I do not think need, I think it could be a change original, it is difficult for us to do this translation and so would be an update berserker spoke as may be included easily.

You find the langage-file under "gunrox\data\language\english-1252.xml"
Eventually could some players copy this file and tranlate in their prefer language.
To tranlate a word you had task in <...> tranlation
For example the line:
Yes
To Tanslate in your language (Yes = Si, Da, Ja ....) must this line change to
Si
or
Da
or
Ja
For perfect translations all other declarations must be change too. (Many Many changes) But if the programmers integrate new words in the Game they must change the Languagefile too. So they do it better at last, after all updates.
Unfortunally you cant test the changes, 'cause all changes will update by starting the game. New files will deleted and changed files will overwrite. The effect: only the Admins can intecrate new languagefiles. But everyone could write a file in this sample and send this to the Adminteam.
But plase dont do it, if the adminteam dont give the ok for this advice.

If the validator is changed to skip the language file it would let people use their own. Not sure if that is something the developers would do but it means the community can help with the translations instead of the developers having to hire someone to do it.

I agree with you, I already translate the file english to Portuguese and it would be good for them deicharem type one week without checking the files to be able to test and outcome, and if you do not have to go bug them. We therefore do not need to hire someone

the main problem with various localizations is once we do it we'll have to support it till the end of all days and once we add new phrase we'll have to add it to ALL localized files and this way it may lead to a number of unexpected bugs and crashes. The only solution to this is to write a tool which would synchronize all other localized files using English file as master and showing errors before they will be put into game.
Another problem with community localizations is quality. Translation must be of high quality without grammar errors etc. otherwise game will look unprofessional. And since we do not speak Portuguese here we will be unable to check the translation quality.
This is two main problems and once we solve them, localized versions of GUNROX will be more real.

Another problem you'll probably get is that in some languages the order of the arguments (%s, %d, etc) need to be rearranged from the English. There are versions of printf which can do this by using %{1}d syntax or similar.
There's also the case where one English word is used in two contexts, but in a non-English language requires different words so to handle the translation correctly you need to define the word twice in the English file in different XML nodes.
You may already know the above but it's better to fix them sooner rather than later when there's more text and more languages to update.

I think it is really annoying when "countries" don't do enough to teach their children a "world language" as English (or Spanish, Arabic or Mandarin). Even highly developed countries as Germany are not very good at this.
But of course you could also just force every game developers (and movie producers etc. for that sake) in the world to support all the worlds over 100 languages including Urdu, Thai, Bosnian, Nepali, Punjabi and Zulu... And of course also Danish (even though less than 6 million people speak it in the world) which is my native language.
Even though there are a lot of Portugese-speaking players in Gunrox now it would make more sense to support e.g. Mandarin/Chinese. This way the game would reach out to a way larger potential user-base, and the Chinese people are also very enthusiastic users of micro-transactions 😎

That would be horrible, dont do that :/ I disagree cause most brazil people cant understand English so it's impossible to do teammatcheswith them.

Brazilians are few who understand other languages some players have only 13 years ... I do not suffer because I feel a bit of English 😳
