About the swear filter.
Maybe the place for this would be in the wish list, but I think it's something that really detracts from my gaming experience.
The swear filter makes me type almost everything I type twice. It's REALLY annoying. You guys don't want swearing, it's fine, but please, don't make all that was typed disappear when you hit enter and the message is not sent, instead let us edit it. I can be rather long winded, and I feel like hitting someone when those two lines of text just vanish.

Swear filters don't stop people from swearing. They just make the really obnoxious people find ways to get around the filter (like the game I saw yesterday, named, "F U C K").

No , but many foreigners ( just me a Dutch person ) have trouble with it talking to other forgein people as some of our words are said to be 'swearing' in english but meen quite normaal think in dutch
eg : i wanted to explain how to use walls to someone, a wall is "muur" in dutch , but somehow it wouldn't let me use it .. 😕

The game does not support officially and language except English so I am sorry but can't help all those multilingual players.

The game does not support officially and language except English so I am sorry but can't help all those multilingual players. This is actually a problem in many games other than Gunrox. I know of several popular games that have this problem. One game actually bleeps out parts of words that are expletives in any language, S***er Rifle e.g. (as the three * form a swear word in Japanese) So this is quite a concern in the gaming community as a whole.

So will you guys let me edit my text instead of punishing me by erasing it all?
It's really annoying, especially because before you could edit, but now, you can't.
Also there are several portuguese curse words that are censored, and they mean nothing in english. This thing was designed to be a pain in the arse not only of english-speaking people, but a boatload more.

I haven't had any problems with the swear filter when using English and I feel it is way more intelligent comparing to some other games so I see no point in changing it. It is very usefull and helps moderators and whole game a lot so I guess we have to bear the fact about limited trouble that may be caused to some players.

And your point is? You want to make it easier to swear? My point is that swearing filters don't do what they're intended to do: stop swearing. Get rid of the swear filters and hire a few active Moderators to warn and punish severe abusers, and publicize when people are suspended/banned for it, and it'll cut down on the foulmouthed punks far more than any filter will.
I've seen many immature punks who see the filter as an EXCUSE to swear - "The filter didn't stop me, did it?" and the like.
No filter can compare with decent moderation.

My point is that swearing filters don't do what they're intended to do: stop swearing. You are utterly and completely wrong. It was made not to stop people from swearing but to reduce amount of bad language and to simplify work for moderators. Without filters people wouldn't be even able to know which words are prohibited.
Filters are doing their job perfectly and it's been a great improvement in conversation quality since we implemented, so no way we would ever disable them.
I think everything that has to be said on this topic been said so I close this thread to prevent flame war.
