A sponsored tournament
So I find myself with a bit of enkord cash, and I was thinking: since there aren't any official tournaments yet, would it be ok with the mods if I sponsor one?
Basically, we'll have 3 lvl categories: 0-10, 10-15, and 15-20(sorry higer then 20 guys).
I'm not sure about the rules right now, but there are several option:
1 vs 1
2 vs 2
Free for all:survivor
Not sure about the weapons yet, its either your own, or maybe I will suplly predetermined weapons to make it more of a skill fight(for example, only fight with steyrs/aksu's.)
As for the prize, lets say 1st prize gets full gear for his units from cash shop(includes silencers, laser etc), second place would maybe get gear for 1 unit.
So, what do you guys think?

great idea. Anthing that gets some games going with a prize to bring players in gets my vote. Just let me know when its on.

agree. nice idea.
but a few important things;
it mustnt be with our own stuff, there must be balance about weapons, armors etc. (i dont mean type , i mean class)
also the games must be watchable by the others in the tournament

We don't do official tournaments yet because we don't have technical possibility to do it and track all winners and loosers, but go ahead and do it if you feel you could. If it turns out good I am sure official tournaments will follow up soon ☺

Is there any possible way the participants of the tournament will be able to watch the other players games?(like mods do?), only for the tournament?

No, but you can ask moderators like onetower, Zilander or HomeRnDrby1 to watch it for you.

Yeah, the security coding needed to allow others to "watch" the tourney and ONLY the tourney would be tough at these beginning stages so for now I think the Mods would have to do it. But that's a start.
TheOne, I'd like to offer my assistance and some of my ENK Cash as well. So consider the offer. Either Notorious or Grappler will contibute 3 geared or 1 geared units for a tourny win. (I like your idea there)
I, too, agree that weapons should be decided on ahead of time. We set the ruleset for the game and then take applicants on the forums. I think a "play time" should be set every week or every 2 weeks for the games.
I'd like to suggest that we mix it up a bit with the objectives...other then basic play, we could have rulesets such as:
"Mine Mayhem"
Each opponent is given 3-4 mine per unit. ☺ ☺ ☺
Each opponent is also given 1 lvl 1 pistol.
All players are forced to use only these weapons.
***Players specced in mines would have a big advantage so we would have to factor this in. Maybe they would start out with fewer mines...
***I know this could get expensive but I would supply the mines for this tourney - we would probably allow up to 10 people per level cataory to apply.
Other more basic rulesets would be easy to come by.
I'm open to suggestions, mainly just wanted to say I support player-run tournaments and would be willing to contribute cash and ideas...and webspace for brackets and tracking if that was of interst.

well........
1. if i have skill +10 of my enemy skill in traps, i see his traps =) so it's useless =) he will plant and i will just blow them=)
2. if we have the same skill it will be who can camp better =) everyone will plant thear mines and just wait till someone die....it will take ages ...

Maybe the mine game would only be for those NOT specced in mines. ☺
It was just a suggestion to get peoples minds going about how we could run some of these tournements on our own until there is something official in place.

It's hard to pick a style of tourney - no matter what we choose, someone is specced is better than the other... Perhaps we shouldnt get ahead of ourselves and just play a round robin to start ☺

Those are some great ideas Josh.
I think I solved the observation problem: We could do free for all, but only the 2 designated opponents fight. The rest of us who want to watch just get in, and watch(not allowed to do anything else).
another thing we need to do is advertise the tourney: it seems not many gunrox people actually read the forums(especially the brs).
I especially like the idea of providing the players with only basic weapons - this will insure some strategic play, if one wants to win.
