DarkenShroud's Tourney of Champions?
I was wondering if the staff might be up for player run touraments? I ran and particapated in a few on a game called battleships forever. We created our own ships with the toolset they offer, and the mods posted and regulated the actual gameplay itself.
I've been thinkin about this idea for the past few weeks now, and I think that the lower level players would enjoy this idea. I wouldn't mind puttin out say 1000 or 2000 e cash as a prize to the winner, if the mods could regulate the actual gameplay to make sure thiers no cheaters or fakers.
Kinda like chickens toruney but with lower levels (7 and below), but I'd be paying the prize money? I may need some help organizing slightly, but I'm fairly sure at least thread wise I could almost handle it myself. I would need the mods to regulate the matches, and maybe help edit the results on the thread if this idea goes forward.
I figure why should the higher levels have all the fun and tournies. Its time to show the newer players they can be the best too. If the mods ok this I will be willing to put up say 2000 e cash to the winner and 500 to the runner up. Not much for a high level I know, but for the younger players. Its a nice little chunk especially for free courtesy of DarkenShroud 😁
Anyways if the mods feel up to it, I will go forward with this idea. Its only in the first stages of plannin, and yes I do plan on playing with alucard in the tounrey if one is organized. Anywho let me know if any of you is capable of assisting me in bringin more excitment to a already amazing game.
I think this idea would bring out the best in the players and the game itself. Let me know if your interested in furthering this idea. And I will begin drawing up brackets, sign ups, rules and regulations, and give more ideas in general on this subject and begin to move forward with this idea.
I know alot of the mods are probably busy with life and thier duties. And if this is to much then I do understand. 😎

this sounds like a great idea cuase low lvl people always end up watching tournaments in youtube( in my case i watched every tournament posted)
and i was when r we lower lvl guys going to particaptae in a tournament

If the mods are interested in my idea then yeah it would be free, but it would only be open to people who can speak at least partial english and who are active on the forums and who can sign up. First come first serve style. And yeah I have the same question for the 10-14 level tourney. Are artifacts required for a entrance fee, because I very havent found much of real value yet. Think I've found maybe 2 really good artifacts in chests since i started playing. After that the rest was a whole lot of junk lol (durable, weightless, no other effect on it, and alot of one effect stuff).
I wouldn't mind puttin alittle cash towards the 10-14 th level tourney prize if you wish to discuss allowing free entrances to the players? Maybe accept donations as a whole from the players in e cash ? And make that the prize? Even better lets gamble on the matches too lol ☺
But yeah would be cool to have free entrance fees, if the players put up the prizes? Or does it cost because if you allowed free entraces thier would be to many who wish to play? 😉
If this is the case, then perhaps instead of buying a ticket ☹ or givin up something of immense value. You could open the tourney up to those who have cashed within say the last month of the givin tourney? I don't know just tossing ideas around really. It seems pretty complicated now that I think about it. Thiers alot to take into account.😳

DarkenShroud, I think it will be okay if ANY artifact (including blue) is required as entrance fee to the below lvl 7 tournament. It is esay to get one but the GOOD artifacts are really difficult to acquire.
As there are more low lvl players rather than higher lvl ones, I can't understand why the past tournaments are only for lvl 15 or up. If new players are allowed to share the fun, more of them could stay in the game.
I suggest holding tournaments on a regular basis, say... once per month and each time for different levels. Can this dream come true ? 😕

Yes, we usually require them as entry fee so having few spare ones won't hurt. Alternatively there is a tourney ticket available in the cash shop.

3000(3 dollars) is pretty cheap to get in, so no worries thier on my part I'll be joinin😉
And still wondering if the mods are interested in my idea as well?
If not I could always just have people post screenshots of thier battle results to prove they won and just make it a smaller tourney, and still just give out the prizes myself. I just don't want you all to burden yrselves if it is a burden.
Of course then I'd have to hand pick maybe 16 players at the most, who are honest. A rarity I know around here *smiles* I can only think of about 20 that I've met. And most of those don't have lower level characters I know of 😝
Eh idea is still in its infancy, and I understand you all don't really want to burden yourselves with some tourney idea a new guy came up with 😁
I'll give it a few weeks, and if I get motivated enough. I'll begin to expand this idea. I think I could pull off my tourney with little or no help if I have to. Just hard to regulate who wins or loses, hence why people who play need to write n speak decent english. And why we need more honest and fair players around here.
Really not that hard, I've particapated in tournies for battle for wesnoth, neverwinter nights, and battleships forever. Thier always fun prize or not.

It requires techincal changes and/or free moderator that will be watching battles, so it's not that easy. You can start it on your own and if it will turn out into something interesting we will find a way to support you.

I'll pony up 2000+500 for 9 and unders. I really like your idea. You cover the 10-?. I finally got my E-cash sorted so I can swing funding prize for 1 tourney. If need be maybe have one of us naked in random battles to moniter(just as a observer). Of course this would hurt the observers stats. I'll only do this if i'm still allowed to enter :-P. One problem might be the shear numbers of players as I know a lot of low lvl players would like to prove themselves.

I've been thinkin the samething about the numbers of players. Now this is a stupid question, and I am a new player so cut me some slack here. Can we the players view other battles going on currently? I haven't noticed a option since i started playin that lets u do so. Its possible for battle for wesnoth to set the option when u make a game if you allow people to view your game when online. And I know that staff can do it, but funny I know I have no idea if we the normal players can do this. Did I overlook it or is it just for the mods in general?
Also it definetly would be hard to judge the matches if no one can regulate them. I'm sorry to say this but alot of players here I've found to be dishonest and can't really be given the benefit of the doubt. Its a shame because that gives my friends and the good players here a bad rep. Example labeling yr game naked, when in fact yr not which i see alot is just plain uncool.
I understand now the concept of hiding yr gear in yr packs to make the battle even more a mystery and fun not knowing what yr going up against. That to me isn't shady at all, it enhances the battle. But if you ask a player if thier naked and they say yes and lie, then that is where fun becomes ignorance and lies. Or again when someone labels thier game naked and indeed thier not. Good player or bad u give the game and the people runnin it a bad name, not only yrself.
Natron the more we talk the more I enjoy your comments and perspective on things. They also match my own when it comes to gameplay and this subject. But unless we can enact a proper screenshot system and or have someone on the staff help out alittle since we are both willing to put cash towards the prizes. And moderate some of the battles or can ourselves. I doubt that this idea will continue to enhance and move forward. Since thier is a 10th lvl and above tourney up and coming 😕 The staff will be busy with that one for sure.
So unless we can maybe get some additional help and input on this matter thats indepth, maybe its best to try n make this the next big tourney after the 10th and above one, and we both could still put prize money towards that if they staff is willing to help us out and make a comprimise at that time. The more tournies the better as far as I'm concerned. I don't mind shellin out alittle to get things going if need be even though yes indeed im a cheapo.
But when it comes to my friends and my hobbies I tend to ignore this entirely ☺ And like to share and compete. To be honest I really don't care if thiers any type of prize, I just like tournies in general and that style of play. Respect and reknown are a players best friend. Not greed, ignorance, and lies. 😎
Looking forward to any up and coming tournies, hope my idea can be put to some use in the future. But again I don't wish to make a strain on anyones lives or gameplay. Ya'll are busy enough as it is 😁

It is only mods who can view games (mainly due to people cheating with things like MSN or IRQ). Maybe bers could make a few temporary junior mods for the duration of the Tournament?
Good luck with this darken it will be good to give the new players something to luck forward to.

Some games have the "view game" option. But in such games, all members of the match can see the whole map already. With vision being a KEY element to the strategies to this game, it cannot and will not be an option.
You will need at least 1 moderator to help you run the tournament (view games and confirm the participants) - This way there can be "official" rewards to the game participants and winners.
The next game hosted by Chicken WILL be 10-14. Date is unknown ☹ Within 30 days most likely.

Maybe I'll be a 10 by then. But most likely not. I'll still put up prize for 9 and under. Let's get this thing ON! Darken you seem to have some notice on this topic from the powers that be. Maybe they'll parle' this in to a full fledged tourney. What better way to promote to the lower lvls then setting this kind of thing up. *think of the kids* They are our future! For entry fees, the clan has a vault of arts that the old skoolers of the clan have collected through out our advances, that are available to all clan members for the sole purpose of the tournaments. Just ask Lil_God or Luke for one to get in.
