In his case he should get submachinegun, shotgun, or melee for thumper and rpk.

Colt M4 unit: Shotgun, because you have a strong distant gun and a strong short range gun, and its good for charging houses and double hitting.
RPK unit: Pistol, because you are saving AP and if you are lucky you can RPK and switch to your Pistol and still be able to shoot.
Thumper unit: Melee (like baseball bat & knives) because he will have more room for more 40mm and heals.

The best is the tmp cause unlike other guns, u have better mobility
and shotgun it isnt best but you must be near to have effect and damage
on the enemy.With it.
However against other shotgunners combine any close range weapon
with a stunner weapon baseball bat pipe etc.
And they die quite fast
tested on my last run under 3 days and poison is also a real good
one
2 units attack with stun one with poison.xd

if u're going with sniper, best pistol. and invest in critical perks.
honestly, thumper/melee doesnt work for me, cause when the 40mm end, the only thing u have is a melee guy, and that isnt good. i prefer tmp or shotgun. Remember u can get the +ap perk with submachiguns. just my opinion though.
