Cursed Artifacts
Cursed Artifacts look like good magic, but really when u equip them thier cursed in the opposite way and give you negative range and dmg. They cannot be unequipped and must be broken to be removed. Also they would have half the normal durability. They would display the cursed properties after you equip them as well. But at 1st seem like really good artifacts.
Fun idea ☺

Although a interesting idea, I think it being "stuck" to you would be overpowering (right word?) I think I've already had one of these. A cleaving scout that only shot scratches. Also, what happens to the poor sap who gets a personnal durable stuck to him/her. They will probably quit playing on that account or quit all together (knowing the patience of some Gunrox players).Maybe some tweaks to this idea could make it viable IMO. Could have a large exp bonus for using such a item in battle. Hmmm... well, I guess fakers would exploit this. Ok, I'll quit rambling and think about this and come back later.

Thats why they would start with half the normal durability, so they break quicker and your not stuck with them. I know its not a very popular idea, but of course I'm used to dealing with cursed items playin neverwinter nights. Just a funny thought to scare people, and give some interesting thoughts to how much we take magic for granted 😉

Wouldn't be able to switch thier cursed to stay equipped as your primary weapon/armor ☺
Again not a popular idea, but a fun one 😁

As a bad guy, I'll sell the cursed magic to the player I dislike...particularly the personal one.😝

Here's a better idea: have these cursed artifacts have godly powers... but they also have a shortcoming. Like you take TWICE the normal damage from melee weapons or you take more poison damage and it lasts longer. This would effectively make cursed artifacts like demonic blades - high risk, high reward for those that can keep their weaknesses hidden!

Actually you hit the nail on the head, in true d and d / neverwinter nights. Thiers magic items and thiers artifacts. Artifacts do indeed bring great power, but at a price. Thiers always a down side to every artifact you'll find. Where magic items in general can be both safe to use or cursed. But artifacts again always have a negative side to them as well as powerful abilites.
If this idea is taken to, I would like to see homeruns alternative in place. A true artifact with both good and bad properties would be interesting indeed.

I really don't see something like this coming into play unless for EACH positive effect there is a negative effect... and consistent.
for example...
+1 range can always be -10 health
dangerous can always be -5% accuracy
sinister can always be 20% blind (permenant)
etc
So a Sinister Dangerous Benelli M3 would add double max damage, increased min damage, -5% accuracy, 20% blind all rolled into 1 - and it would be up to the player to determine if he wants to use the artifact or not...
so we can revise all current arts and then we can allow more arts to come into play - essentially what we are doing here is allowing for further "customization"
