disconnecting
It sometimes happens that a player disconnects for one reason or another.
The way it used to go:
Disconnected player loses his turn and immediately becomes the next player's turn. When the player comes back he might get 1 extra round sometimes, depending on where he was on the turn order. If the player doesnt come back his units die after some rounds, unless his team has more players online.
The way it is now: Disconnected player still use the whole round time and no turn is skipped. I assume the dieing part stays the same 1v1s.
Now the suggestion part:
I think that after 5 rounds or so, the disconnected player should no longer take the full round time.
Examples of when this would have been useful:
I have been in one 5v5 where one player disconnected quite early in the game and continued to take full minute of everyone's time untill his last unit was found and killed, which took a long time because he was still almost in his starting position.
Another time was today, I was playing a 3 player ffa, managed to kill 1 player and the other disconnected before that. Took me tens of turns to find his units with my last survivor overburdened with loots.

There was a lot of complains, that's why we decided to completely remove turn skipping. I know it's not fun to wait, but being unable to return in time when you are disconnected is even less fun.

Yes, I understand this and this is why I'm proposing a compromise, that would be good for all. If a player disconnects for the rest of day, there is no point waiting for all of his rounds for the full time. If the full waiting time would be 5 turns (or something like that), that would give 5-10 minutes time to come back in a 2 player 1:00 turn game, more if there are more players in the game. The counter should be reset every time the player logs back in, but if he is not coming back anyway, it would be nicer if the turn skipping could start or maybe gradually make the DC'd player turns shorter untill he logs back in.
In a 2 player game, if someone disconnects, does the same still happen that the disconnected player just dies automaticly?

In a team game, if someone disconnects it would be nice if the ranking teammate could take control of his players

Actually - that is quite an idea - I would like to hear what the mods say about that one...
If the teammates trusted each other well enough (perhaps they should) - then we can overlook the issue of moving guns from one team to another purposefully ☹ - Otherwise, this is a splendid idea.
This might outweigh the problems that the team endures from a friendly disconnect. If you don't want to risk your players, then don't disconnect - That way, the only players at risk of anything, are the ones who are disconnected... not the ones left on the battlefield.

Maybe you could add a switch -like command, which sets someone as your reserve commander. like if during game you type /backup Late then I could command your units in case you disconnect and I'm in your team. This could avoid any random madness of giving command of your units to bad hands.
